Time for a Spa Day in Glasgow!

There’s nothing like a Spa-day to give you that “yep, I’m definitely worth it” feeling again. With the recent financial doom and gloom and ongoing public sector cuts, a girl – and a bloke – needs a wee cheer-up right around now.

And what better way to do it than to get pampered and delicately pummelled then enjoy a lovely champagne lunch (diet – what diet?) with the girls all in one lovely sinful day. Actually what are we saying? It’s not sinful – you deserve it. We’ve already told you that.

So where does a gal go to get a top class pampering in this most sophisticated of Scottish cities? Well one could nip over to Blythswood Square – the new five star hotel just off er, Blythswood Square. This five star luxury spa is open 7am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 9pm weekends. This haven includes a three-hour Thermal Experience. What? You didn’t know what that was? Well, ring the spa and ask them for a tour. It’s free. Book the Thermal Experience though and you’ll enter a series of rooms where your body will undergo a series of opposite temperatures and senses. This is aimed at ensuring your body gets maximum use and absorption from products.

But maybe you’ve already hung out in the Blythswood spa? Then it’s time to nip Southside and pop into Pure Spa at Silverburn. Shortlisted as one of the UK’s top six spa’s for the fourth year on the trot, this shopping centre oasis is open until 9pm weekdays and 7pm Sat/6pm Sun. At the moment the Spa is centring on luxury Moroccan and Turkish treatments. The former involves an all-over body Rasul mud wrap then Argan oil is gentled dripped onto the skin while during the latter you’ll enjoy a muscle stretching massage and afterwards a body buff and wrap with essential oils.

The luxurious Aveda Concept Spa at Mar Hall in Bishopton is also a big fan of Rasul mud. But its speciality and USP is its focus on the ancient Indian healing system of Ayurveda. This means staff take a holistic approach making sure no part of you feels neglected – including the mind and spirit. In fact it promises to bring all into harmony, using a selection of lovely Aveda product indulgences.

Of course there’s numerous spa treatments on offer in Glasgow and its surrounds. It’s a good idea to sample a few to find out what treatments and products work best for you. You’ll also find you’ll feel more at home in some spas than others. Happy hunting and maybe we’ll bump into you one day!
